1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the BarkShare website at https://www.barkshare.dog and the BarkShare mobile app (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a BarkShare account or use app features that require an account. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Website Use

You may browse our website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, scrape it without permission, or submit false information through our forms.

Our website may use cookies for analytics as described in our Privacy Policy. By accepting cookies, you agree to that use. Site content, branding, and materials are owned by BarkShare or its licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.

4. App Accounts

You are responsible for your account and keeping your login secure. You must provide a valid email address and phone number for verification. Do not share your account or impersonate another person.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use BarkShare to post harmful, abusive, or misleading content; harass, threaten, or intimidate others; create fake profiles or misrepresent yourself or your dogs; spam users; circumvent security measures; or use the Services for any illegal purpose.

6. Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users

BarkShare has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. By using the Services, you agree not to post content that is offensive, harmful, harassing, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, or otherwise objectionable, and not to harass or abuse other users. We review reported content and will remove objectionable content and/or eject the user who provided it within 24 hours of a report.

7. Content You Post

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content, you grant BarkShare a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content within the Services. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to share it. Photo posts in the app are reviewed before appearing in the public feed.

8. Safety and Reporting

BarkShare provides tools to block and report users who violate these Terms. We review reports and may suspend or terminate accounts that violate our policies. When meeting other users in person, exercise caution and meet in public places. BarkShare facilitates connections but does not guarantee compatibility or safety.

9. Child Safety Standards (CSAE)

BarkShare has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards apply to the BarkShare mobile app and website.

BarkShare is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use account features. We prohibit any content, messaging, profiles, or behavior that exploits, endangers, sexualizes, or otherwise harms minors.

Users must not create, upload, share, solicit, or distribute CSAM or content that facilitates the abuse or exploitation of children. Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination and referral to law enforcement.

If we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM on BarkShare, we will:

  • Remove the content promptly and preserve relevant records as required by law;
  • Suspend or terminate the responsible account;
  • Report confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and/or other applicable regional authorities, as required by law.

BarkShare provides in-app tools to block and report users, posts, and comments. Users can also report child safety concerns by emailing support@barkshare.dog. We review reports and take action in accordance with these standards and applicable law.

10. Termination

You may delete your app account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. Upon deletion, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

BarkShare is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. The app is free at launch. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of user-provided information, or the behavior of other users or their dogs.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BarkShare and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services, including interactions with other users or their pets.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
